Percona Monitoring and Management 2.41.0

Percona Monitoring and Management 2.41.0 was released on December 12, 2023. It is an open source database monitoring, management, and observability solution for MySQL, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB. A release highlight is that to improve the gathering and sharing of PMM metrics and data, we’ve now integrated the pmm_dump client utility into PMM. Initially a standalone client for PMM Server, PMM Dump is now accessible in the PMM user interface. This integration enables you to collect PMM data to share with our Support team.

Percona Distribution for PostgreSQL 14.10

Percona Distribution for PostgreSQL 14.10 was released on December 5, 2023. It is a solution with the collection of tools from PostgreSQL community that are tested to work together and serve to assist you in deploying and managing PostgreSQL. The aim of Percona Distribution for PostgreSQL is to address operational issues like high availability, disaster recovery, security, observability, spatial data handling, performance and scalability, and others that enterprises are facing. • Telemetry is now enabled in Percona Distribution for PostgreSQL to fill in the gaps in our understanding of how you use it and help us improve our products. Percona XtraBackup 8.2.0-1

Percona XtraBackup 8.2.0-1 was released on December 12, 2023. It is a 100% open source backup solution for all versions of Percona Server for MySQL and MySQL that performs online non-blocking, tightly compressed, highly secure full backups on transactional systems. Maintain fully available applications during planned maintenance windows with Percona XtraBackup.

Release highlights include:

• Percona XtraBackup 8.2.0-1 is based on MySQL 8.2 and fully supports the Percona Server for MySQL 8.2 Innovation series and the MySQL 8.2 Innovation series. This release allows taking backups of Percona Server 8.2.0-1 and MySQL 8.2.
• Use the Percona XtraBackup 8.0 series to take backups of Percona Server for MySQL 8.0.x or MySQL 8.0.x. Percona XtraBackup 8.2.0-1 does not take a backup of the Percona Server for MySQL 8.0 or the MySQL 8.0.x series.

Percona Xtrabackup 2.4.29

Percona Xtrabackup 2.4.29 was released on December 18, 2023. Percona XtraBackup 2.4.29 is the final release of the Percona XtraBackup 2.4 series. This release merges the MySQL 5.7.44 code base. This release does not contain new improvements or new bug fixes from Percona. We recommend that you either upgrade to MySQL 8.0 or stay on 5.7

Percona Distribution for MongoDB 7.0.4 was released on December 11, 2023. It is a freely available MongoDB database alternative, giving you a single solution that combines enterprise components from the open source community, designed and tested to work together. The aim of Percona Distribution for MongoDB is to enable you to run and operate your MongoDB efficiently with the data being consistently backed up. Release highlights include:

• AWS IAM authentication is now generally available, enabling you to use this functionality in production environments.
• Added the ability to configure the retry behavior for Percona Server for MongoDB to connect to the KMIP server when using data-at-rest encryption
• Percona Server for MongoDB now includes telemetry that fills in the gaps in our understanding of how you use our products and how we can better improve them. Percona Distribution for MongoDB 6.0.12

Percona Distribution for MongoDB 6.0.12 was released on December 14, 2023. This release is based on PostgreSQL 11.22. A release highlight is the fix of the routing issue with sharded time series collections which could result in metadata inconsistency. The issue occurred when the documents that have the shard key containing the embedded object composed of multiple fields are routed to an incorrect shard and become orphanated. As a result orphanated documents may not be returned when queried through the mongos and/or may be deleted. The issue affects time series sharded collections starting in MongoDB version 5.0.6 through versions 5.0.21, 6.0.11 and 7.0.2.

Percona XtraBackup 8.0.35-30 was released on December 4, 2023. This release merges the MySQL 8.0.35 code base, and includes several bug fixes, including:

• PXB-3003: Percona XtraBackup discovering redo logs to parse and the server purging redo logs simultaneously could cause a race condition.
• PXB-3147: Percona XtraBackup failed to execute the DO innodb_redo_log_consumer_register("PXB"); query.
• PXB-3181: The use of the innodb-use-native-aio=true option resulted in printing duplicate timestamps.

Percona Backup for MongoDB 2.3.1

On December 4, 2023, Percona Backup for MongoDB 2.3.1 was released. It is a distributed, low-impact solution for consistent backups of MongoDB sharded clusters and replica sets. Release highlights include:

• Improved PBM Docker image to allow making physical backups with the shared mongodb data volume
• Updated Golang libraries that include fixes for the security vulnerability CVE-2023-39325.

Percona Monitoring and Management 2.40.1

Percona Monitoring and Management 2.40.1 (PMM) was released on October 20, 2023. PMM is an open source database monitoring, management, and observability solution for MySQL, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB. In this release, fixed issues include:

• PMM-12592 – Fixed an issue where the Library Panels for the PMM dashboard were not working after upgrade to PMM 2.40.0.
• PMM-12576 – After upgrading to PMM 2.40.0, changing the Admin user’s password from the terminal was not functioning. The issue has been resolved now.
• PMM-12587 – After upgrading to PMM 2.40.0, some users may experience incorrect mappings between dashboards, folders, users, and groups. This can result in either a successful upgrade or a 500 internal server error. The issue has now been resolved.
• PMM-12590 CVE-2023-4911 is a vulnerability in the OS that PMM is based on. It has been fixed in the base OS, and the fix is available in PMM.

• Improved performance of updating the routing table and prevented blocking client requests during refresh for clusters with 1 million of chunks
• Fixed commit point propagation for exhaust oplog cursors.
• Disallowed the increase of oldest ID during recovery and let all the history store records return to the rollback to stable irrespective of global visibility.
• Disallowed saving the update chain when there are no updates to be written to the history store.

Percona Monitoring and Management 2.40.0

On October 5, 2023, Percona Monitoring and Management 2.40.0 was released. It is an open source database observability, monitoring, and management tool for MySQL, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB. New features in this release include:

• We have redesigned the Select service type and Add service pages to make them more user-friendly and intuitive.
• Starting with PMM 2.40.0, you can now edit service labels directly from the PMM UI without having to remove and re-add them.
• We have introduced an experimental feature that categorizes all your Services by Cluster, making it easier for you to understand your inventory. By using the Organize by Clusters toggle, you can view a group of services as a single cluster.
• Starting with PMM 2.40.0, you can now use an external VictoriaMetrics database for monitoring in PMM. This provides multiple benefits, including scalability, resource isolation, reduced load on the PMM server, customization, etc.

• Fixed the flow for converting a replica set into a sharded cluster b adding support for the drivers to communicate the signed $clusterTimes to shardsvr replica set before and after the addShard command is run
• Improved performance of updating the routing table and prevented blocking client requests during refresh for clusters with 1 million of chunks
• Fix commit point propagation for exhaust oplog cursors during node sync
• During reconciliation do not retry to forcibly evict the page

Percona Distribution for MongoDB 6.0.9

Percona Distribution for MongoDB 6.0.9 was released on September 14, 2023. It is a freely available MongoDB database alternative, giving you a single solution that combines enterprise components from the open source community, designed and tested to work together.

Bug fixes and improvements introduced in MongoDB and included in Percona Distribution for MongoDB are the following:

Percona Backup for MongoDB 2.2.1 provides the ability to increase the wait time for physical backup to start. This eliminates the PBM failure when creating $backupCursor takes longer than usual.

• Improved the reconciliation time and slow eviction for pages with lots of updates by avoiding saving the update chain when there are no updates to be written to the history store
• Fixed the Rollback to Stable behavior to skip tables with no time window information in the checkpoint.

Percona Operator for MySQL based on Percona Server for MySQL 0.6.0

On September 5, 2023, we released Percona Operator for MySQL (PS-based) 0.6.0. It allows users to deploy MySQL clusters with both asynchronous and group replication topology. This release includes various stability improvements and bug fixes, getting the Operator closer to the General Availability stage. Version 0.6.0 of the Percona Operator for MySQL is still a tech preview release, and it is not recommended for production environments.
